3 Ways to Find More Customers – Targeted Marketing Checklist

How well do you know your customers?  The more targeted your knowledge of your customers, the better able you are to focus your marketing and reach them.  With deep knowledge of your ideal target customer, you can show them design packages and ideas that are right for them, design marketing that is meaningful, and gain more customers.

How many ways do you know your ideal target customer?

  • Location
  • Age
  • Marital or household status
  • Kids?  Parents?
  • Lifestage (kids, retirement)
  • Values (e.g. sustainable)
  • Decision-making style
  • Decision “gate keeper”
  • Drivers (style, size, savings)
  • Hobbies, interests
  • Tenure in home
  • Age of home
  • Type of home (newer, older, historic, pre-Title 24, single family, townhome, etc.)
  • Income or net worth
  • Needs
  • Optimal purchase timing

Here are three ways to use your new knowledge:

1. Buy direct marketing lists for targeted marketing, to reach just the right ideal target customer.  With just a few points of information identified on the list, you can focus your efforts on people that are most likely to be a purchase your services and products

2. Design your marketing materials for maximum appeal.  If your ideal target customer is an empty-nester in their 50’s, your marketing materials and website will look much different than materials for target customers in their 20’s.

3. Conduct marketing advertising and outreach just where these ideal target customers look for information.  With a strong ideal target customer profile, you can target events, outreach, advertising and social media efforts just where customers look for information.
